About Us

Are you a purpose-driven marketing and communications leader, ready to make a real impact on the lives of millions?

The Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) is looking for an Interim Head of Customer Communications & Marketing – a newly created senior leadership role offering the opportunity to define, lead and deliver powerful communications that help people make better money and pension choices throughout their lives.

This is more than just a job. It’s a chance to transform how we connect with the UK public, delivering engaging, insightful, and inclusive communications that empower people to build financial resilience and protect their future.

About the Role

Joining the Customer Engagement leadership team, you’ll take ownership of a broad portfolio from customer communications and digital engagement to brand, PR, media, SEO and AI-informed search. You’ll lead a passionate, skilled team and work cross-functionally to deliver a communications strategy that raises awareness, builds trust, and drives engagement with MoneyHelper and other MaPS services.

You’ll be a key strategic advisor, using insight, data and creativity to connect with diverse audiences – including consumers, partners, professionals and policy-makers – across multiple channels.

What You'll Do

  • Lead from the front bringing together communications, marketing, brand and digital engagement functions into a high-performing, audience-focused team.
  • Develop and deliver a multi-channel communications and marketing strategy that raises awareness, drives service usage, and supports MaPS' mission to improve financial wellbeing.
  • Innovate and evolve, harnessing digital trends, SEO, AI and emerging tools to maximise reach and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate and influence, working across teams, senior leadership, and external partners to ensure unified messaging, reputational resilience and measurable outcomes.
  • Champion inclusion and insight, ensuring our messaging is informed by robust data and truly resonates with those most in need of support.

What You'll Bring

  • A proven track record of leading high-impact communications and marketing strategies in complex, multi-stakeholder organisations.
  • Strong digital know-how, including experience with CMS, analytics, social media tools, SEO and digital campaigns.
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams, inspiring collaboration, and driving continuous improvement.
  • A deep understanding of audience insight, campaign evaluation and outcome-focused planning.
  • Experience working in or with government, regulators, or public sector organisations.
  • A passion for purpose, and a belief in the power of communications to make a difference.

Why Join Us?

At MaPS, we don’t just talk about impact, we deliver it. Every year, our work helps millions of people across the UK, particularly the most vulnerable, make informed decisions about money and pensions. You'll be joining a dedicated leadership team during a crucial period of transformation – and you’ll be at the heart of it.

This is your opportunity to use your skills to influence national policy, shape public services, and improve lives. If you want to work somewhere that combines ambition with purpose, and offers the freedom to lead and create, we’d love to hear from you.
