Organisation: Money and Pensions Service

Role: Programme Director - Pensions Dashboards Programme

Salary: Circa £110,000

Contract: Fixed Term - 23 months

Location: Hybrid – London office with regular travel to Bedford (minimum 2 days/week in office)

About Us:

The Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) is seeking an exceptional Programme Director to lead the delivery of the groundbreaking Pensions Dashboards Programme (PDP), one of the most significant digital transformation initiatives in UK financial services.

This programme will revolutionise how people engage with their pensions by allowing individuals to view all their pension entitlements, including State Pension, in one place online. To make this vision a reality, the programme must connect over 52 million adults with around 43,000 pension schemes, a complex, multi-stakeholder delivery challenge at national scale.

As Programme Director, you will play a pivotal role in delivering this once-in-a-generation change. Reporting to the Senior Responsible Owner (SRO), you’ll provide strategic leadership to a multidisciplinary, virtual team, working closely with senior leaders in government, industry, and regulation.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Set the strategic direction, drive performance, and embed a delivery-focused, collaborative culture across the programme.
  • Lead the development of the business case and secure alignment with stakeholders including DWP, HM Treasury, and industry regulators.
  • Manage delivery risk, governance, and assurance across complex workstreams with a relentless focus on benefits realisation.
  • Build trusted relationships across a wide stakeholder landscape, from civil service and Ministers to industry providers and technical partners.
  • Oversee programme finances, ensuring public money is spent with transparency, discipline, and value.

What we’re looking for:

We are seeking an experienced transformation leader with a track record of delivering high-profile, multi-stakeholder programmes. You will bring:

  • Deep experience in leading complex transformation programmes in government, public sector, or regulated environments.
  • Professional programme and project management qualifications (e.g. MSP, APM, Agile, P3O, or MPLA).
  • Strong governance, assurance, and business case development expertise.
  • A highly collaborative leadership style and the ability to engage confidently with senior decision-makers and external partners.
  • Familiarity with digital and data-driven delivery approaches (Agile or hybrid models).

You’ll thrive in this role if you are:

  • Inclusive and collaborative – bringing people together to drive shared success.
  • Decisive under pressure – staying focused and pragmatic in fast-moving environments.
  • Strategic and future-focused – always seeking ways to improve and deliver better outcomes.
  • Ethical and accountable – taking ownership and setting the standard for integrity and public value.

Why join MaPS?

At MaPS, our mission is to help people, particularly those most in need to improve their financial wellbeing. By leading this flagship digital transformation programme, you’ll be at the heart of this mission, creating a legacy that will benefit millions.
