At Ashden, we’re driven by a simple but powerful mission: to accelerate climate solutions that deliver real impact – cutting emissions, building resilience, and transforming lives. For over 25 years we’ve championed innovation at the intersection of climate action and social justice, supporting pioneers in the UK, Africa, South America and Southeast Asia who are creating a fairer, greener future. We are now looking for a new Director of Programmes to play a critical role in delivering that mission.
Our Director of Programmes holds overall responsibility for Ashden’s domestic and international programmes, ensuring they are systemically impactful, well-coordinated, and in line with our five-year strategy. We are nothing if not ambitious and our work supports innovators who not only cut carbon emissions but also lift people out of poverty and create sustainable livelihoods. Our biggest current programme, Let’s Go Zero, has the goal of making all UK schools zero carbon by 2030.
Importantly, we tell compelling stories about the innovations we spotlight, aiming to inspire decision-makers of all kinds to create the right conditions for such innovations to scale and be replicated. Our founding annual Awards programme remains the heartbeat of our work.
This is a newly created role, bringing together UK and international programmes at the most strategic level. We’re looking for our Director of Programmes to take a central role in the health and success of Ashden, ensuring that our programmes are impactful and well-funded as much as that the organisation is coordinated, collaborative, and a great place to work. This is a visible and influential role that requires deep strategic expertise, inclusive and decisive leadership, and a collaborative approach.
