Trussell

Chief Operating Officer

Trussell is an anti-poverty charity and community of food banks, working together to ensure no one in the UK needs a food bank to survive, while providing food and practical support to people left without enough money to live on.

Working with 420 affiliated charities across the UK in over 1,400 locations, Trussell is at the forefront of delivering vital services amongst people experiencing hunger and hardship. And in the public arena, Trussell spearheads social and policy change, bringing together the evidence, experience and engagement of a wide range of stakeholders.

To support this work and the amazing teams who deliver it, Trussell is shifting to a programmatic delivery structure. This is a new role, and the Chief Operating Officer will be responsible for the operational and strategic oversight of Trussell as an organisation, ensuring that approaches to the stewardship of the charity’s core assets (people, finances, knowledge, technology and relationships) are aligned with its values and strategic vision.

This role ensures that everything is in place for Trussell to achieve an audacious vision, to ensure the effectiveness of the organisation’s work together, to identify and seize opportunities for improvement and innovation, and to ensure that the organisation’s actions manifest its values of compassion, justice, dignity and community.

This role is part of Trussell’s Executive team, providing effective leadership to a team of directors and into the wider organisation. Alongside Exec colleagues, the COO ensures the delivery of Trussell’s strategic outcomes, maintaining and developing a network of key relationships and building a culture and ethos where every team member is fulfilling their potential in contributing to the charity’s mission. In doing so, this role underpins the success of the organisational strategy to end the need for food banks in the UK.

In short, working with Trussell means you’ll be making a real difference to the lives of millions of people across the UK. Together, we will build a future where everyone has enough money for the essentials we all need.
